Welcome, everyone! I’m your guide, Susan, and today we’ll explore the beautiful Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Our tour includes some of the most famous tourist attractions on the island. But first, let’s start with a little introduction to the country.
Northern Cyprus is a fascinating place. It is capital Lefkoşa, and the people here are mostly Turkish Cypriots. The official language is Turkish, but many people can also speak English.
We begin our sightseeing tour here in Girne, a charming coastal city. If you look to your right, you can see Girne Castle. Inside the castle there is a museum with an ancient shipwreck from the 4th century BCE. It is the only one that remains from that period.
Our next stop is Gazimağusa. The city is famous for its historical sites, such as the ruins of the Royal Palace and the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque. The mosque is the largest medieval building in the city and one of the most impressive structures in the Eastern Mediterranean. The city also has beautiful beaches, where you can relax or swim in the clear waters.
Our final stop is Lefkoşa. You can see the historic Venetian walls that are from the 16th century and surround the city. I hope you all enjoy the tour today! Please feel free to ask me any questions along the way.
